About

Join us for a circular walk (3-4 hours walking + transit) beginning and ending in Aigra Nova. The barren winter hills are reminiscent of Scotland, perfect for shaking off any winter blues.

This is a donation-based walk! For more information, see: https://donorbox.org/qt-library/fundraiser/kristen-connor

We'll meet at the parking lot just before the Aigra Nova village (please comment below or reach out to the organizers if you need a ride from Coimbra), at 11. We won't be not in rush, let's tak it easy–count 3 to 4 hours in the nature. We will be back in Coimbra by 4:00PM - so you can make it to that holiday event...!

The secluded village up in the Lousã Mountains is where we'll start. There is a local gift shop, with a cake and a coffee, that we can visit before we'll start the walk, and preferably after (for a second cake).

It's a circular, eight-kilometers-long walk on a steep terrain, so bring snacks and good shoes. We'll walk through two Xisto villages: Aigra Velha and Pena. Both are secluded with open mountain views, calm, and eerie atmosphere. And between, pine and eucalyptus forest, a beautiful stream, and rocky crags.

It's a dog and kid (8+) friendly walk.

Start/end time (from Coimbra): 9:30am meet & drive to Aigra Nova 4:00pm arrive back in Coimbra

Start/end time (from Aigra Nova) 11:00am 3:00PM
