Collage & Poetry

About

Exploring Poetry in Collage

In celebration of National Poetry Month, we will explore two forms of collage poetry.

Found Poetry uses words or phrases cut from a book, periodical, or advertising. These are then put together to form a poem. This approach uses collage to assemble a finished poem on a new background.

Blackout Poetry uses a book page or an article in a periodical. Ink or paint is then applied over the words, “blacking out” all but a handful of words. The remaining, legible words form a poem. The finished poem can the be added to a larger collage.

Please consider registering for this event and offering a small donation ($6 suggested) to support this and other programming at the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC).
