B40 Bay Area - Coreboot, Intel ME, and Firmware Freedom

About

Ever wondered what runs your computer before the GNU/Linux even starts? Most people don’t realize that proprietary firmware can control your device in ways you never intended. Join us for a meetup focused on free BIOS and firmware. The event will feature a presentation and AMA with Ronald Minnich, inventor and developer of Coreboot. We will discuss the security and freedom issues imposed by proprietary firmware blobs like Intel ME, how Coreboot addresses these issues, and how we can build libre systems on non-x86 platforms. Attendees are welcome to bring their laptops to get help on flashing Coreboot or me_cleaner.
